Debbie Ransom grew up in Snyder, New York, a suburb of Buffalo. Debbie was seven years old when she decided to be a teacher.
She graduated from Buffalo State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and shortly thereafter relocated to suburban Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and son. Her teaching career began at Dacula Elementary School in the Gwinnett County School System. In 2002, Debbie earned a Masters of Art Degree from Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia.
Debbie taught for 30 years in a number of elementary schools in Gwinnett County (Georgia) and a year in the Livermore School System in Livermore, California. For the majority of these years, she taught 2nd and 3rd grades. Her greatest joy was teaching children to read.
Teaching was so central to Debbie's life she named the family Golden Retreivers-- Shiloh & Sunset-- after two of the schools she taught at--Shiloh Elementary in Snellville, GA and Sunset Elementary in Livermore, CA.
We lost Debbie to cancer in 2010.
The foundation was established in February 2011 by the family, friends, and colleagues of Debbie Ransom in her memory and to continue her thirty plus years work focused on benefiting children.

The foundation was established in February 2011 by the family, friends, and colleagues of Debbie Ransom in her memory and to continue her thirty plus years work focused on benefiting children.
The foundation's initial emphasis was to provide books and other reading materials for elementary age school children, both at home and in reading centers in schools- Sadie's Reading Corners. Then as technology evolved, we shifted our focus to providing iPads to school literacy programs and grants for electronic devices to individual children in need.
As important, growing out of the loss of Debbie Ransom to cancer, is our second emphasis-- giving focused on helping children's cancer research.
We are a not-for-profit corporation headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia.
To promote reading and other projects designed to benefit children of all ages and to fund programs & research to eradicate childhood cancer & blood disorders.
